The wipes are the only product here with no signal word at all, and in a household with young children or anyone with reactive skin that is the most useful sentence on this page. Their safety data sheet covers the whole formulation in a single line: nothing classified, nothing above the concentration at which it would have to be named. That is a stated finding rather than an absence of information. The trade-off is in the five-minute wait the product asks for — a low-concentration active needs contact time to work, and rinsing early takes that time away.

At the other end, the drain cleaner is a different class of product from everything around it. H314 at Category 1B is not a strong irritant warning, it is a burn warning: tissue destruction rather than redness that fades. That is why its own safety data sheet asks for a face shield and an apron rather than safety glasses, and why its first aid runs to fifteen minutes of irrigation and transport to hospital. The exposure it anticipates is a splash coming back out of a drain, not a drip on the hand. It is also the only product in the Selleys cleaning range here that carries a transport classification at all.

The Toilet Gel is the one people underestimate, because a gel made with lactic acid does not read as a Danger product. Its single classification is Category 1 eye damage, and the exposure is easy to picture: an angled-neck bottle squeezed under a rim, your face above the bowl, and a squirt that catches the porcelain and comes back.

Two of these are acids and one is a caustic bleach, and that is the single most important thing on this page. The pH column runs from below 3 to above 13. Sodium hypochlorite meeting an acid liberates chlorine gas, and caustic soda meeting an acid releases a great deal of heat in a confined trap. Both of those reactions want exactly the conditions a bathroom provides: a small unventilated room, a narrow drain or bowl, and your head directly above it.

The realistic way this happens is not someone mixing two bottles together. It is sequence. The drain cleaner goes down a shower waste or basin that still holds the acid shower spray you used ten minutes earlier, or into a toilet with acid gel sitting under the rim. If another cleaner has already gone into a drain or a bowl, flush it through with plenty of water and leave it before the drain product goes in — and never use the drain cleaner as a follow-up to a cleaner that did not work. "Do not mix with other detergents or chemicals" is a chemistry instruction, not a warranty clause.

Every cleaning and germ-kill claim in this category is a claim about wet contact time, and it is the instruction most often skipped. Ten minutes for the spray and the gel, five for the wipes, fifteen to thirty for the drain. Spray-and-wipe gets you the cleaning; it does not get you the disinfection the pack describes, because the surface was dry long before the stated time elapsed. If the point of the job is hygiene rather than appearance, wet the surface, leave the room and come back.

The whole range assumes glazed, acid-tolerant surfaces. The spray is a citric acid cleaner below pH 3, the gel a lactic acid cleaner below pH 3.5, and acids etch marble, limestone, travertine and polished natural stone permanently.
